There are categories for High School Music Theater Men and Women, ages 15-19, as well as beyond to Advanced, no age limit! Competitors receive written feedback as well as cash prizes if you advance to finals stage.

How It Works: The NATSAA competition takes place every other year in conjunction with the NATS National Conference and is open only to NATS members and students of NATS members. Preliminary competitions are held at the regional level, with one winner emerging from each of the 14 NATS regions. The 14 semifinalists then gather at the site of the NATS national conference for the final two rounds of the competition.
Entry Fee: $75
Prizes: The winner is awarded more than $13,000 in cash and prizes; the runner-up is awarded more than $6,000 in cash and prizes. Various other prizes and awards are given to participants in the competition.
The purpose of the Art Song Composition Award is to stimulate the creation of quality vocal literature through the cooperation of singer and composer.
How It Works: NATS offers a cash award, plus a performance of the winning composition at next scheduled NATS National Conference, to the composer of the winning song cycle, group of songs, or extended single song. Competition is open to any composer whose submitted work meets the prescribed requirements and who pays the competition entry fee.
The National Music Theater Competition is the only national competition for the music theater soloist.
How It Works: The National Music Theater Competition is seeking the best emerging music theater soloists, those who just need that one break to move their careers forward. To be eligible, applicants must be between ages 20-28 . An online video submission round is also available for participants who cannot travel to the live audition sites. Approximately 24 singers advance to the semifinal and final rounds – to be held during the NATS National Conference.
SFBACNATS (San Francisco Bay Area Chapter National Association of Teachers of Singing)
Arden has been a member of SFBACNATS since 1984. This active organization provides both students and teachers of singing many opportunities. Participating in the annual Singing Festival is an excellent way to prepare for auditions, performances and other competitions. Please check your calendar; the Festival takes place in March, in Hayward, CA.
The Mission of the Marin Music Chest is to provide financial support to talented, promising, young Marin County students of classical music and, when possible, to assist other non-profit organizations with similar goals.
Applications are due in February and the auditions take place in March. The scholarship competition is open to singers and musicians, who compete against each other; there is no separate category for singers alone.
The YoungArts Foundation offers advanced singers early career advancement through scholarship awards and performance opportunities. YoungArts discovers the next generation of visual, literary and performing artists and contributes to the cultural vitality of the nation by nurturing their talent.
The Mayflower Choral Society Scholarship Fund’s mission is to benefit people from all walks of life who have exhibited a talent or a strong interest in music and who either want to increase their knowledge, develop that talent to their fullest potential, or achieve both of these goals.
